V-tech Supports 7th Annual Foster*A*Life Hub City Beach Party
Foster*A*Life was established in June, 2004, by Lubbock psychologist, Dr. Shaun H. Keel. Dr. Keel has worked with foster children in the Lubbock area for fifteen years on a weekly basis. These children are in the custody of Children's Protective Services and have been removed from their homes due to physical abuse, sexual abuse and / or neglect. These children have been traumatized by the abuse, but also by the removal from the only caretakers they have known. They have missed out on so many things in their short lives. With the help of her friends and family, Foster*A*Life was established and the agency quickly began fulfilling foster children's dreams.
The mission of Foster*A*Life is to provide otherwise unavailable assistance, services and opportunities to children who have been placed in foster care. The purpose is to enhance the lives of those children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Foster*A*Life hopes to promote a more positive self-image and increase self-esteem by promoting the overall well-being of these children. Another important aspect of Foster*A*Life is to educate the public about these children and the societal consequences of foster care. Donors can help these children have more fulfilling and positive lives. One hundred percent of the money that is raised will stay right here in the Lubbock area to help these children make their dreams a reality. Foster*A*Life is a 100% volunteer organization with no salaries being paid. A group of community volunteers serves on the Foster*A*Life board to process these requests as they are presented so that contributions make a positive impact on the life of a child.
Mr. Jaren Shipp of V-tech Environmental Services volunteers his time away from the office to Foster*A*Life. He is deeply involved in helping to plan and coordinate the 7th Annual Hub City Beach Party at the Cactus Courtyard. The event is scheduled for August 4th, 2012.
